Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

OH MY HOLY ZEUS THIS BOOK IS GLORIOUS. I have too many feels to contain, so I can't not make this post long. Sorry. This book was just too good. Yeah...

Goodreads synopsis;

Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship—the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe My Summary;

It's supposedly another summer for Ari. He'll go to the pool and sit around, in his usual lonely manner. Not that he minds he's lonely- it's fine with him. But then comes along Dante. The curious boy, with a taste for adventure. Together, the two boys discover the secrets of the universe.

Review;
Wow this book was. Wow. This book is seriously indescribable. I loved every moment I spent devoured by Benjamin's poetic writing style. The quotes were beautiful, the characters were perfect, and I overall really loved this book. I do admit, the book was rather slow, and a bit confusing at times (for me anyways) because I didn't really understand what was happening, but overall, I always wanted to pick it up. You CANNOT RESIST THE URGE TO READ. I WAS LEFT TO SUFFER *CRIES*. I have a few friends who read this book, so I can relate to them, but it was horrible because I don't have very many, if any, classes with them.

The Best of the Book;
I really loved how each individual character was broken. They had their flaws, and Saenz didn't even make an effort to sugar coat that. The words Benjamin uses to write this story is truly incredible. It feels as if you're actually in the story, and not sort of in it, but you can picture everything, even the things that aren't described. I am a very imaginative and creative person, and I easily lose myself in a book, but this was even more for me. I could see the characters crystal clear, as if I knew them personally.

Now, for some of my favorite quotes;
"One summer night I fell asleep, hoping the world would be different when I woke," (page 1 first sentence).

"The problem with my life was that it was someone else's idea" (page 8).

"For the music to be over so soon. For the music to be over when it had just begun. That was really sad," (page 6).

"Sometimes I think my father has all these scars. On his heart. In his head," (page 14).

"Words were different when they lived inside of you," (page 31).

" 'Someday, I'm going to discover all the secrets of the universe.' That made me smile. 'What are you going to do with all those secrets, Dante?' 'I'll know what to do with them', he said. 'Maybe change the world," (page 43).

"Wow, a world without darkness. How beautiful was that," (page 56).

"You have to be who you are. And I have to be who I am. That's the way it is," (page 184).

Thanks for reading today's post. I really hope you enjoyed! I hope you all decide to pick this up because it will change you. See you in my next post!
