Goodreads Synopsis:

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees themānot until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.
His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she canāt entirely explain. He has it allāfamily money, good looks, devoted friendsābut heās looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, sheās not so sure anymore.
In the beginning we meet all of the main characters, Blue, Gansey, Ronan, Adam, and Noah. After that it was literally so boring. I'm sorry, but I tried. In fact, it took me about the entire month to complete this book. Now, I'm not going to solely blame the book because 1) I had basketball and 2) I wasn't as dedicated to reading. But, nothing was happening, so how can I be expected to read dialogue? Just dialogue with no effect on later events in the book. So I was asking myself the question "where's the rising action?" because there wasn't really any at all. There may have been some suspense, but nothing drastic or enough to even stifle a gasp from me. NOTHING. It was extremely infuriating because this is such a well loved series and I couldn't relate to it at all. But, I was able to see how adorable Gansey and Blue would be together, so I ship it. I know I probably shouldn't because ADAM MY POOR SON. But, eh. So, in my opinion, it needed to be a little more fast paced and there were some plot holes that needed to be "sewed" back together.
Halfway through the book is when things got interesting. I'm not even kidding you, it was like chapter 23 when things began to actually pick up. I was like "what is happening man?"

FINALLY SOMETHING IS HAPPENING! I mean the main characters Blue and Gansey began to really work together. When this started happening, I knew something was going to happen. Like a major breakthrough or plot twist and I thought, "maybe she was only making it boring so that the characters find some startling fact". And when nothing happened I was thrown off the trail, and to admit, a bit defiant that Blue and Gansey didn't find anything. I was like "COME ON PEOPLE LET'S GO UP AND AT IT. GO FIND ME SOME SHOCKING NEWS LET'S MOVE IT". I felt like the coach Hedge of TRB. And then something happened that made me smile like a maniac, or maybe make a disgusting face in horror, considering the circumstances hehe.
THE ENDING THOUGH. I WAS RUNNING AROUND FLAILING LIKE A RUBBER CHICKEN. To me, the rest of the book was worth trudging through to the end. I mean, GAAAHHHH. There really isn't much to say without giving away spoilers, so sorry. I have heard that the series progressively get's better from one of my friends, and I hope that's true because I would love to continue if Mrs. Steifvater can fix some of these things.
Final Rating;
3/5 stars
Thank you all so much for reading my review. I am trying a new format for my reviews. I need to work on relating more the the story and not just the writing, but more suggestions would be great! See you all in my next post!
