GAHHHHHHHHHH!!! It's here!!! My review of Between the Lines by Jodi Piccoult and Samantha Van Leer.
Goodreads synopsis;
Delilah is a bit of a loner who prefers spending her time in the school library with her head in a book—one book in particular. Between the Lines may be a fairy tale, but it feels real. Prince Oliver is brave, adventurous, and loving. He really speaks to Delilah.
And then one day Oliver actually speaks to her. Turns out, Oliver is more than a one-dimensional storybook prince. He’s a restless teen who feels trapped by his literary existence and hates that his entire life is predetermined. He’s sure there’s more for him out there in the real world, and Delilah might just be his key to freedom.
A romantic and charming story, this companion novel to Off the Page will make every reader believe in the fantastical power of fairy tales.
OK... I don't know where to start. I think I'm just going to say that this was actually a good book. Going into this I was expecting something way different, and, to be honest, a kind of lousy book, but this surprised me. I just really enjoyed this book.
I loved every character. I OBSESSED over Oliver. I fangirled with Delilah. I understood her mom. The only character I wasn't totally in love with was Jules. I kills me to say this, but she was a little underdeveloped. Her character wasn't really involved in any of the story, but there are more important things going on, and half of the time the story is in Oliver's POV.
Uhhhhhh... OLIVER. So, funny story, I keep running into books with the name Oliver as a male character. I read Everything, Everything , and I also saw this book at Target, which I'm bound to pick up soon. I loved Oliver though. He was HOTTTT and all the characteristics that all of us book lovers want. Charming, smart, sweet, loving, caring, ect. His character was perfect, and I just loved him so much asdfghjkl; *fangirling*.
I honestly cannot describe how I felt about this book. I (obviously) fangirled throughout the entire thing, and I would actually close the book, stare at my wall, and repeat this book is so good. I read this in one day, but I was dragged around everywhere, so I couldn't complete it in one sitting (sadly) but if I were you I'd sit down with this book and get comfortable, because it's so much fun, and deathly cute. The characters were quirky, and so much fun to be around. The atmosphere is so adorable, and I cannot get over this book I'M SORRY.
I think the only negative thing I have to say is that it dragged a bit. Throughout the entire book they're trying to get Oliver free from his "predetermined literary existence" and I really just wanted them to be together. I was still hooked, I just wanted everything to fall into place, and see the characters together.
Overall I really liked this book. It was so much fun to read, and was the perfect book for a reader to read because you can really connect with Delilah on how the characters "speak" to you.
Thanks for reading today's post! I really hope you all decide to pick up this book because it's definitely worth the read.
